E0034 | Consult With Beau and Ashley – Part 2

Play

Beau & Ashley Pt 2Welcome back to another episode of the Homegrown Liberty Podcast, this is episode 34. Today we’re continuing our conversation with Beau and Ashley. Last week we were talking about the missing earthworms and we think that the ants were one of the main reasons for the earthworms disappearing. So I’ll be giving some tips on how to deal with em straight off the bat. And we get into some practical first steps to setting up a productive and useful homestead. We talk a little bit about setting up those first systems and I get into tactics for setting yourself up for success with rabbits and making that animal system as cheap and profitable as possible. We specifically talk about tactics for making cheap or free rabbit food, which in turn gives you fantastic fertilizer, which builds soil in your garden which is one of the first things you need to focus on. But you’ll hear all about it in just a minute. So let’s get into dealing with fire ants!

[CONSULTATION WITH BEAU AND ASHLEY]

Alright guys, we’re going to take a break in the conversation there, and pick up next week with some thoughts on livestock guardian dogs, tactics for keeping expenses low, diversifying your livestock’s diet, and thinking through how to set yourself up for success no matter what life throws at you.

We talk a little more on how to stack our chores and maintenance so that we don’t have pointless maintenance and the “ordinary” chores get made into purposeful work that profits us and saves us money.

We talk about making grass clipping hay for your rabbits, storing that harvest, and growing feed for your animals during the winter! And we also talk about turning a large yard area from an unproductive time suck of weekly mowing, into a pollinator bonanza, flower meadow, and bee forage feast while still keeping some mown grassy area for a play area. Basically changing the perspective and purpose of a little bit of the area into a more productive and beneficial area that will grow harvestable and usable materials, feed bees, attract beneficial insects, and still provide all the feed needs for rabbits and some good food for chickens as well. So make sure you tune in to next week’s episode for what I think is a great conversation.

And I’m sorry to say, that if you haven’t already emailed me, you are probably out of luck for consulting on my upcoming trip. I have 11 stops in 11 days and I don’t think there’s any more room! You can however get on the waiting list in case someone drops out or cancels, plans do sometimes change. But for anybody in the East Texas, and DFW area along the I-20 corridor, or even a couple hour drive from I-20 and DFW, let me know if you’re interested in a consult because I’ll be headed your way the end of October.

That about wraps up my news and info for this week. Tune in next week where we get into the third part of the consultation with Beau and Ashley where we talk about lots of great stuff!.
